bewitchingbritain:    Balmoral Hotel and Clock Tower in the heart of Edinburgh, Scotland was built around the turn of the century and called the North British Hotel until the late 1980s, when it was renamed the Balmoral Hotel,-despite the minor detail of it being located nowhere near Balmoral, which is 160 km north.    Author J.K. Rowling finished the Harry Potter series at this hotel; leaving a signed statement written on a marble burst of Hermes in her room saying “J.K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room (552) on 11th Jan 2007”. Only when you are J.K. Rowling can you write on a marble bust in a hotel room and people are pleased with you.
